Post Office responds
Thanks so much for your signature on this petition calling for the Post Office to stop excluding non-binary people and to add Mx to its general enquiry form.
Following our media coverage of this petition last week, the Post Office has made a new commitment to remove titles from all its forms.
A representative of the Post Office said: "Mx titling is currently available for our travel, home and gadget insurance journeys. We regularly discuss this topic, and recently came to the decision to remove titling altogether from our forms to ensure inclusivity for all of our customers.
"This change will take time to implement as it involves coordination with the third-party partners that provide our products and services, but we are committed to seeing it through."
Many major brands have already removed titles from their forms and it removes any need for people to indicate to companies what gender they are via title menus.
This is a positive step, but the general enquiry form still has a drop down title menu which doesn't include Mx, so please share the petition to keep the pressure up and make sure this important change doesn't slip down the agenda.
It is already three years since the Post Office were first asked to be more inclusive towards non-binary people, so we need to see the change happen before we stop asking.
Include Mx
The petition was started by the LGBTQIA+ campaign called Include Mx.
Include Mx is a campaign which celebrates organisations that include the gender-neutral title Mx as a title on their forms, and encourages others to adopt Mx.
It has successfully pressured Argos, River Island, Next, Wilko, Wickes, Dunelm and other major brands into adopting the title, and has been covered in Metro, the i newspaper, PinkNews, Retail Gazette and other publications.
Follow Include Mx on X (formerly known as Twitter), Instagram and LinkedIn.
