Many you have asked local Green Councillors and candidates about the Cowley Road Post Office. We did, of course, talk to the Post Office about both branches when we first engaged with them at the time this petition was started (well over a year ago). The situation with the Cowley Road branch is a bit different. We managed to convince the PO very early on that the Cowley Road branch was needed (it always did more business than the Donnington branch). Since our first contact they been repeatedly advertising for a new Cowley Road branch location/postmaster (the ad is still running here: https://runapostoffice.co.uk/home/result/show/cowley-road-post-office-oxford-ox4-1ut) The problem is that there is no one interested in taking on the responsibility of running a franchise branch. So, unlike with Donnington, targeting the Post Office in this instance is probably not going to move things forward. They WANT a branch to open. Finding a trader willing to take on the responsibility is the problem. This is why we have decided to write to all traders on the Cowley Road asking them to consider responding to the PO advert.
