Nikki Denny started this petition to Post Office Ltd

Haworth Main Street Post Office serves not only it's local residents (many from the older generation), it serves the local businesses and equally the tourists who descend on the village consistently, throughout the year and more so with 'staycation'.

Throughout the pandemic, this branch has been a lifeline to many of its local customers by selling produce and more and has helped many businesses and entrepreneurs grow their online businesses.

Post Office Ltd originally gave our Postmaster notice of closure as of the 27th July as they intend on opening a new facility within the Co-op and closing the Main St branch. They have now agreed to have a public consultation and delayed the date to the 27th September.

Feedback so far from hundreds of locals is that it would be detrimental to the community should this branch close. There will be no community facilities at the top of the village, the elderly will be deprived of an essential service as it is too far for them to go to the Co-op especially in inclement weather. The Co-op is approx a mile from the current Post Office and an average gradient of 9.0% max 13.3% for Main St and 12.3% for Bridgehouse Lane (Hence the 'Tour De France & Tour De Yorkshire'). There will be no facility for businesses to purchase their change and no cashpoint facility for tourists or travel currency for the million plus tourists a year (pre covid).

Please help us save this vital community facility by signing this petition and sharing!
