Portage Township has been asked to allow a noisy seaplane base operation-airport to be located very close to the Nara Nature Park, an active eagle nest, and residential neighbors nearby. The relative peace which has been enjoyed by patrons of the Nara Nature Park, the wildlife, and residential neighbors would be disturbed by 16 scheduled sea plane flight legs per day in the late spring, summer, and autumn seasons if changes are made to township zoning on site. Please sign this petition showing your support to keep the peace by rejecting this commercial seaplane base operation-airport from being allowed to locate here through changes Portage Township is considering in the zoning on location at the base of Pilgrim Point by the Nara Nature Park. In addition, please write a letter to the Portage Township Supervisor Bruce Peterson, the head of the Portage Township Planning Commission Melanie Kueber Watkins, and to the Houghton County Planning Commission to voice your support of the Nara Nature Park, the Pilgrim Point eagle nest, and the residential neighbors who will hear the raucous noise created by the seaplanes if the Township allows this seaplane activity to locate there.
