Port of Portland: Keep the iconic carpet design at PDX

Port of Portland: Keep the iconic carpet design at PDX
The Issue
Portlanders have been coming home to the carpet at PDX for over 20 years now. Children have waited anxiously to hug parents, parents have greeted children, friends have welcomed friends, lovers embraced lovers, and family has welcomed home soldiers all on this iconic carpet.
When Portlanders leave through PDX, it is the last thing they see. The know where they have been and know as soon as they step on that plane, they will be leaving home.
When Portlanders arrive at PDX, it is the first thing they see. Under their feet is the symbol that they know then are home. They have returned to Portland.
The carpet has become so synonymous with PDX that pictures of feet on the carpet can be found throughout all social media outlets letting friends and family know they have returned to Portland. There are even socks and t-shirts printed with the design so you are never too far from home.
Home. This is what the carpet at PDX symbolizes for us. It is recognizable, unique, and symbolic. Sure, it's a bit dated in design and non-Portlanders may think it is a bit weird, but we're supposed to Keep Portland Weird. We like our coffee hot, our beer cold, our donuts covered in sugary cereal, and our carpets teal!
Port of Portland: We, as Portlanders, who call Portland home, call on you to keep the current carpet design at PDX! Replace the physical carpet if you must, but keep the iconic design. Let the carpet continue to serve as a beacon to all Portlanders to return home.
