Stop the Inappropriate Strata Development on The Ruins Way, Port Macquarie

The Issue

To Port Macquarie-Hastings Council:
Please use common sense and listen to the community by stopping the inappropriate strata complex development on Lot 14, DP1219811, The Ruins Way, Port Macquarie.

This plan is for a crowded 16 double storey unit complex in an area known for its large leafy blocks with existing family homes occupied by families drawn to the area for its quiet, natural and spacious character.

Residential housing development needs to be sympathetic to the existing natural, social and built environment.

Why is this important?

We consider this a test-case and an opportunity for the Council to demonstrate best practice in how it will approach development across the region.

We need residential housing that is thoughtfully integrated with the local neighbourhood including consideration for existing dwelling densities so as to not increase noise, traffic and environmental impacts to an unacceptable level. Amenity to existing and new residents is fundamental to a happy, balanced community for all.

We need planning which understands and embraces the safe, child friendly, communities already in existence in Port Macquarie and ensures these remain as part of the attraction for young families moving here. We need planning which protects the quality of life for all residents.

Please view the plans and speak up if you agree:
