Release Animal ID 25176022 (Dobi) to Rescue
The Issue
Dobi is a very emaciated bassett hound / pit mix who also has skeletal deformities. Dobi was found as a stray on 3/16/15 and should have been available for rescue on 3/20 (3/17, 3/18 and 3/19 are the 3 days required) but the Shelter director did not follow the regulations and now refuses to release him. After the date in which Dobi should have been released the shelter has had an outbreak of parvo. Dobi will not survive if he contracts parvo. There is a veterinary hospital who will quarantine him AND treat him.
The shelter's website contains the following which CLEARLY covers Dobi's situation.
“Animals which are judged to not be adoptable, or are sickly in appearance, or are malnourished, or having no collar or other signs of ownership shall be retained for a minimum of three working days, beginning the day after being turned in or picked up, before being placed for adoption or humanely destroyed."
Please advocate for Dobi by signing this petition so it is clear to the Shelter Director, County Commissioners and Animal Control Board that we will NOT allow them to kill Dobi due to their blatant disregard for their own regulations. The shelter director has the absolute authority to release him so he can be taken to a veterinary hospital for treatment and he REFUSES to do so.
