Allison Hunter started this petition to Politicians and

Recently, Georgia Department of Transportation has placed rocks on Pryor Road where many homeless people set up tents. They have already shut down the homeless shelter downtown. I understand that it is illegal for them to stay there but the city needs to provide them with somewhere to go. People have been losing their jobs and with the holidays around the corner, this is humanely wrong. With the freezing weather and the pandemic going on, this is putting them at more of a dangerous risk for their survival. Instead of the money going towards blocking them from setting up there, money should be set aside to build a homeless shelter/other types of housing in the downtown area. It would mean the world to me if you signed this petition in agreement with removing these rocks and/or supporting the cause of getting more money allocated for our homeless people in the Atlanta area.

We want to help end homelessness in Atlanta by:

1- Funding low barrier/low requirement housing

2- Building emergency shelter pods with nonprofits like Neighbor Inc. on vacant parking lots.

3- Divert money from jails and prisons to support emergency housing

4- Remove those rocks!
