On Sunday, 1st August my cat, Jasper was hit by a car who didn’t stop and left my cat to die. I am heartbroken. Since then I have spoken to many people who have experienced a similar fate. It is a legal requirement to stop if you hit a  dog and it should be the same for a cat, cats, just like dogs are well loved pets and like members of our family. To stop and check on the cat, you might just save it’s life or at least allow the owner to know what has happened and give their beloved pet a proper farewell. 

Accidents happen and the driver doesn’t even need to care for cats, but should care about the devastation that is left behind for the family of the cat,

It should no longer be an option to stop - it should be mandatory.
