The Irish government have rolled out the COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment for employees and self-employed people who have lost employment due to the Covid 19.

To avail of this payment, you must be resident in the Republic of Ireland.

This requirement has left thousands of cross border workers in financial crisis. In some cases both earners in a household are cross border workers and this will result in zero income for that household.

Cross border workers pay their taxes to the Irish government, so in their time of need, they should be supported financially by the Irish Government.

The Irish government need to act NOW to change this residency requirement for the COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment.
