We are reaching out to you as a group of concerned citizens who have been trying to bring this story to light for quite some time now. We have utilized all possible resources to expose the neglect and abuse this dog has been enduring yet shockingly enough we haven't been able to get through to anyone who has the ability to change the life of this animal. The images in this petition show a clear case of neglect towards animal life, however neither the police officers of Clermont nor the Animal Services of Lake County are willing to pursue this case and help us rescue this poor dog. As the neighbors will concur, the dog has been locked in the metal crate for months which is located outside. The dog is let out a few times a day for one minute at a time to relieve himself after which he is forced back into the crate. The Florida law states that as long as the animal has food, water and shelter it is sufficient enough to be considered humane but we beg to differ. With the help of animal behaviorists and various veterinary professionals that have advised us to pursue this casewe are ready to submit any paperwork needed to prove that keeping a dog locked in a crate day and night is not only damaging to the animal on psychological level but also on physiological. Any medical professional will attest to the fact that if a mammal is restricted in its ability to move, the muscle and bone tissue starts to deteriorate, causing major health issues which are non reversible. It is not only inhumane but also ignorant to argue that this type of confinement is LEGAL in our civilized society. We urge you to reconsider your position and pursue this case as a clear case of animal neglect and cruelty. Our goal is to make sure that this dog is rescued and the owner is prosecuted for animal cruelty and is banned from ever owning another animal. We strongly believe that this is a time sensitive matter due to the fact that an animal kept in isolation for a long period of time will be much harder to rehabilitate once rescued. We are not willing to take no for an answer and will not give up on this animal until he is rescued and rehomed.
