As we all know by now, it has been announced that Ash Ketchum and Pikachu are being retired from the Pokémon anime.  I believe it is too soon for that because Ash's story really isn't quite over yet.  There are two or more things that Ash still has yet to accomplish.  One of them is defeating Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket.  The last time they fought was during the "Black & White Series," and Ash and his Pikachu were defeated by Giovanni and his Persian, before being taken captive.  Now Ash may be World Champion, but he can't call himself the very best if there's still one opponent he hasn't defeated yet.  Also, Ash has defeated all the other evil organizations in every region he's been to, now it's Team Rocket's turn.  Their reign of terror must come to an end, and if Ash's time is ending then so should theirs.  If Pokémon is not going to continue Ash in the tv series then they should at least do a canonical movie in which he finally does defeat Giovanni and bring an end to all of Team Rocket.  Of course, in this movie, I think Ash should first reunite with all his former companions as well as some of the recurring friends he made during his journeys along with all their Pokémon, because with all the other evil organizations out of business, Team Rocket has probably become more powerful, especially since Giovanni had sent Jesse and James to gather more recruits.  Team Rocket's story should also end because if there are going to be new protagonists in the series then there should also be new antagonists.  If you agree with this in all or part, please sign this petition.  

Another thing that Ash still has yet to accomplish is realizing whether or not he has feelings for Serena.  I know that may sound like a fanfic, but it is said that many fans have been wanting to see them together again, especially after that kiss she gave him.  They may have met again once during "Pokémon Journeys" but that reunion was way too brief, although it was somewhat emotional.  Now I may not know this for sure, but I do believe it's possible that Ash might have feelings for Serena, and just doesn't know it yet.  See I think that Ash is one of those male anime protagonists who are kind of dense when it comes to love.  Sort of like Goku, Naruto Uzumaki, Monkey D. Luffy, and others.  Take Goku for example, although he and Chi-Chi did get married and had two sons, he still wasn't much of a romantic, plus we don't actually hear him tell Chi-Chi he loves her until after he defeats Majin Boo.  Naruto's case wasn't different, but quite similar.  In spite of his so-called feelings for Sakura, he also had feelings for Hinata, which he didn't know about until the film "The Last: Naruto the Movie."  It is also revealed in that same film that Naruto didn't really know what love was, or that there was a difference between loving a person and loving ramen.  As for Luffy, he still has a ways to go before he knows whom he has feelings for if he has any at all, be it Nami, Alvida, Boa Hancock, or whoever else it'll be.  Anyway, my point is that Ash is no different when it comes to love and romance.  Now he and Serena may still be ten years-old, but it's never too early to fall in love with someone.  Also there have been theories lately that the new protagonist of the series, Liko, might actually be the daughter of Ash and Serena, mainly because she wears a pin in her hair shaped like Ash's logo, and that she practically has Serena's eyes.  Now this should also be in the movie because if Ash does reunite with his friends he should realize exactly how Serena feels about him, if he hasn't already, and accept her feelings before discovering his own feelings for her.  The movie should also end with the two of them finally becoming an item.  

Anyway, as I said before, if Ash Ketchum's story in the anime series is really over, then Pokémon should at least make a movie in which he finally defeats Giovanni and Team Rocket, and in which he and Serena truly become lovers.  It's not a good idea to end a character's if there are still loose ends for them to tie up.  For all those who are interested, please sign this petition.
