Get Point Park's Oakland shuttles back

The Issue

Point Park students, especially those that live in Oakland, have just been told 12 days before school starts that the Oakland shuttles that have been provided for years have been canceled for the upcoming semester. Students move to Oakland for affordable housing considering tuition is anywhere from $31,000 to $39,000 a year not including additional fees or on campus room and board. This puts a lot of pressure on students living in Oakland to find a new method of transportation to and from school.

The school has dodged numerous emails from concerned students and parents over the summer about the shuttle service and have continued to do the same since sending out the new shuttle service email. Though the city of Pittsburgh does have a bus service an annual bus pass cost $1,072, well out of a college student's budget, and during inclement weather can be unreliable. Point Park students are only offered discounted $1 bus tickets on weekend, after 7 pm on the weekdays and holidays while students at Carnegie, Pitt, and Chatham are part of the U-Pass program allowing them to ride for free.

Please sign this petition to show that you care about safe, reliable, and affordable transportation for Point Park students living in Oakland for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. Let get our Oakland shuttles back!

If you are a student living in Oakland please email Keith Paylo and tell him it is imperative that something be done to ensure our transportation to campus is affordable and reliable.
