We, the citizens of the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 and/or the alumni of Pocatello High School petition the Pocatello City Council to:

1.  DENY the appeal of Pocatello/Chubbuck School District's “Certificate of Appropriateness,” appropriately rejected by the Pocatello Historic Commission.

 2. REQUIRE the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District to redesign the phase #2 exterior to better compliment the historic qualities of Pocatello High School, and to reapply for the “Certificate of Appropriateness” from the Historic Preservation Commission.

3. CALL for the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District to follow their own operating principle #25 that, "prior to making a decision that the Board identifies as having major impact on students, staff and/or patrons, the Board will use a public hearing process to gather input,” and reopen the process to public input and scrutiny.

3. ACKNOWLEDGE that as a "Certified Local Government" (CLG), the Mayor and Pocatello City Council members have pledged, through the establishment of the Historic Preservation Commission by Ordinance, a commitment to Historic Preservation, and to adhere to the Commissions recommendations except in rare and extreme circumstances.

4. REAFFIRM that the Historic Preservation Commission, while following the Secretary of the Interior's 10 Standards for Rehabilitation, is best qualified and best able to represent the interests of the community in relation to the rehabilitation of Pocatello High School, the most valued historic building and "crown jewel" of Pocatello. 

5. UPHOLD the Historic Preservation Commission's decision to deny the application for the “Certificate of Appropriateness” for Phase 2 and refuse to override it for political expediency.
