The systemic issue of dilapidated healthcare system that we have in India, which we have been pointing out for ages, was taken cognisance by the Supreme Court of India. 

Hon'ble Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, The Chief Justice of India pointed of exactly what is wrong with the system and where the changes need to be done. We thank him for his astute comments. 

This was very very long overdue. It took a rape and murder of a lady within a hospital for the court to examine this ever prevalent issue.

But is the problem solved? No, the problem is far from solved. 

High quality healthcare, improvement in infrastructure and most importantly, a Central law protecting doctors that has adequate teeth too is still pending. On this, there is no resolution. A committee may be a beginning, but we have seen so many committees fade away with time without any meaningful impact.

And, most importantly, justice for the departed soul of a 31 year old sister is still far. The forces that we have seen in the last few days may not allow justice to be delivered. Thus, it is our duty to make sure that we keep our voices strong and united with the hope that one day justice will be delivered and we will have all the provisions including infrastructure and a strong law to protect health care professionals.
