When the rape and murder probe was transferred the CBI, another desperate attempt was done to wipe all evidence linking to the rape. The R G Kar campus was vandalised by local goons in a mob in thousands in an orchestrated fashion where local police seemed to be a meek spectator.

The governor of Bengal has said: “. The incident which took place here is shocking, shattering and deplorable. It is a shame for Bengal and India and humanity…. The custodians of law have themselves become conspirators. A section of the police is politicised and criminalised. This rot has to end...The government is responsible for this. The first responsibility lies with the government. We want security so that when you go to work at night you are safe...It is nothing but a bloodbath going on,”

This vandalism proves one thing that we have been pointing out time and again. That any mob can enter a hospital and assault doctors. This is want we are asking security from.
