A 26-year-old orthopaedic surgeon doctor was attacked by a patient with a screwdriver and his two fingers of the right hand are injured. Such an injury could potentially cause the doctor to even lose his career as a surgeon.

But does anyone care.

Even the news item relating the event by a leading news names the doctor but very easily forgets to name the assaulter. The accused has been booked for attempt to murder, and assault on a public servant while voluntarily causing obstruction in performing the official duty. Will the assaults ever stop?

Another assault, and the doctor community sleeps in peace awaiting their turn. It could be you tomorrow in your OPD or your hospital.
