Dr Sudhakar was treated worse than an animal. He was publicly humiliated, thrashed half-naked on road, with hands tied at back by Andra Pradesh Police at Visakhapatnam. He was earlier suspended for raising voice against a shortage of PPEs for CovidWarriors.

There is a report that he used foul language and was mentally unstable. He was wrong if he did so. But, does that give you the right to treat him the way you did? 

Any person who is under administrative terror and suspension may behave mentally unstably. Administrative assault on doctors must also stop.

But the most demoralizing fact is that very few people other than doctors are condemning the assault on a respected doctor. The society also has a duty towards doctors.

I have written a poem to reflect the mental condition of doctors in this country.

मैं कब तक पराया रहूँगा।

जन्म इसी धरती पे हुआ

मैं यहीं का कहलाया जीवनभर

इसी देश में कर्म किया, पर

मैं कब तक पराया रहूँगा।

जवानी काट दी इस देश की सेवा में

बुढ़ापे में भी सब अपना ही लगता है

दिल फिर भी सोच के सिसकता है

मैं कब तक पराया रहूँगा।

हर आपदा में देश के लिए लड़ा मैं

जहां ज़रूरत पड़ी देश को, था खड़ा मैं

फिर भी देश भक्त न कहलाया मैं

मैं कब तक पराया रहूँगा।

कर्मभूमि पे जब मुझपर वार हुए

मुझ पर हिंसा पे कोई ना बोला था

क्या तुम्हारा खून नहीं खौला था

मैं कब तक पराया रहूँगा।

दिखता थोड़ा तुमसे अलग हुँ

पर दिल से तुम्हारे संग हुँ

उपहास फिर भी क्यू मेरा होता है

मैं कब तक पराया रहूँगा।

मैं ने देश को तो अपना माना

पर देश में परदेस क्युं लगता है

अपनों को ही ,मैं, पराया लगता हुँ

मैं कब तक पराया रहूँगा।
