Death of a elderly male, doctor assaulted The patient, an elderly male, was bought to the Emergency department in a gasping condition. He was accompanied by a large group of people, around forty or fifty. The doctor on duty tried to resuscitate the patient with difficulty due to the chaos around him created by unruly relatives.©Dr Sumit Periwal During resuscitation he could catch heated phrases from within the crowd. A crying female voice said somewhere, "Brother, I have been telling you for months to show father in some hospital." Another female voice responded emotionlessly "Father-in-law was always complaining about this or that. How could we know he was telling truth this time." ©Dr Sumit Periwal The doctor shouted "Intubate". Another thick male voice very close to the doctor's left ear shouted 'Doctor, nothing should happen to my father. Or else you will not return home alive.' ©Dr Sumit Periwal "We have lost him." cried the doctor after frantic half hour wiping sweat off his forehead. This is the last thing the doctor remembers because he was pounded by 40 pair of hands and legs from all directions. The doctor was never aware that there were so many weapons in his emergency department. The chair, the IV stand, the BP instrument, the IV Fluid bottles and many other things were hitting him. He only knew that the stethoscopes saved lives.
