Assam NSUI strongly opposes the decision of National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) for coal mining in Saleki of the Dehing Patkai.

The Amazon of the East is in danger. Dihing Patkai wildlife sanctuary which is also the part of Dihing Patkai Elephant reserve is the only rainforest of Assam and home for thousands of exotic wildlife, endangered flora and fauna and different ethnic communities. It is located in the Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts of Assam and also stretches to districts of Arunachal Pradesh.

We are demanding state & central govt. to stop any current and future coal mining project in Saleki and the whole of Dehing Patkai Elephant Reserve.Legal or illegal coal extraction is having and will have catastrophic consequences for the whole ecosystem of the region.
