Recent NGT order has made the norms for the treated effluent from STPs more stringent - a welcome step indeed!!

Also NGT has directed Ministry of Environment to pass on orders to local authorities to come up with plans for complying with new norms for all existing as well as new upcoming plants.

Under JICA project, 11 new STPs are proposed. Will these plants comply with new norms? What is plan of action of upgrading old plants for compliance?
