*INDIA RIVER DAY*

Looking at the current pathetic condition of the rivers, Seven NGO's from different parts of India came together in 2014. Main concern was understanding real causes behind the pathetic situations of Rivers today & solutions with the different approach. 28th November was declared as India River day by passing a resolution. Main aim was "to get rivers flowing naturally".
There are many organizations in Pune district working on rivers in their area of locality. This year, all these organizations have decided to celebrate the India River Day together. For this celebration, a “cleanliness drive” is going to be organized on various River banks of Pune on *Sunday, 25th November 2018, 7am to 8.30am.*

Main Aim for celebrating together:

1. To make the public at large aware about the work being done by these organizations.
2. “VISION-2020 – Make the rivers of Pune garbage-free” – keeping this aim in mind, connecting the citizens of Pune to the vision.
If this aim is to be achieved, government, NGOs, people’s representatives, and the citizens of Pune need to work together. These NGOs feel, the rivers, that are a splendor of Pune, should get cleaned by 2020, get water-hyacinth-free, pollution-free, start flowing naturally, Pune revives its lost splendor, and Pune becomes the first “garbage-free-River” of India. They have a resolution that by the year 2025, the rivers should become sewage-free and toxin-free.
