Remove Tax Evader Fraudster Navin Raheja from the Chairmanship of Real Estate Body NAREDCO
The issue
There were income tax raids on Raheja Developers in February 2010, and incriminating documents containing evidence of tax evasion of Rs 117.98 crores were recovered.
Raheja Developers approached the Income Tax Settlement Commission and accepted that Rs 39.53 crore were bogus and fake billings, while the rest were genuine. Over a period of the next year, the Commissioner of Income Tax submitted reports that showed the evidence given to Settlement Commission by Rahejas was false, and that the whole Rs 117.98 crores was concealed income. There was even evidence presented by the CIT that the 5 companies that Rahejas had claimed sold it goods were all fake. And all the evidence of transportation that Rahejas provided to ITSC was also proven to be false.
Despite all the lies to the Income Tax Settlement Commission, the ITSC inexplicably gave Rahejas immunity from penalty and prosecution in its order on 8 feb 2015. This ITSC order was challenged by the Commissioner of Income Tax in Delhi High Court, where the CIT filed a case against ITSC. Shri Salman Khurshid, the Minister of External Affairs in the UPA Govt, represented the ITSC (and Rahejas) against the CIT. Shri Salman Khurshid appeared for continuation of immunity to Raheja Developers.
But, the facts of the matter and evidence was so strongly against Rahejas that the Honorable Delhi High Court in an order dated 10 Feb 2014 (WP(C) 5262 of 2013) quashed the immunity from penalty and prosecution given to Rahejas. Now, Mr Navin Raheja, represented by Shri Salman Khurshid has put in Special Leave Petitions No SLP(C) 5442 Of 2015 & SLP(C) NO. 17333/2014 at the Honorable Supreme Court against the CIT, and in favour of the impugned order of the Settlement Commission. The next hearing is slated for August 31, 2015 at the Honorable Supreme Court, and based on the preponderance of evidence against Raheja Developers an adverse order against the Developers can be expected.
A company associated in past with Shri Salman Khurshid, called Equity Lex Associates, is also representing Mr Navin Raheja and Raheja developers in the Supreme Court filed by many buyers in a Raheja residential project called Atharva. (Appeal Civil 10602 Of 2014)
Raheja chief Mr. Navin Raheja as chairman of National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) is shameful to say the least. His company has all sort of tax evasion and fraud cases registered against him and he continues to enjoy and abuse top position in one of the prestigious real estate governing body of India headed by none other than Union Urban Development Minister Shri Venkaiah Naidu. Over 600 buyers have sued Raheja Developers across projects Raheja Atharva, Raheja Vedaanta, Raheja Navodaya, and Raheja Atlantis at the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC), and buyers in Raheja Shilas and Raheja Sampada are gearing up to do the same.
And to make matters worse, fire system inspections on the Atharva & Vedaanta sites have revealed problems that show that these two sites are incomplete and unsafe, and probably have gotten Occupation Certificates by corrupt means. Kindly protect the public, using the Law and Order , which ensures he gives a livable possesion as promised to all the tenants, and he doesn't get hold of Occupancy Certificates by illegal means.
None of the project started by Rahejas have so far delivered on time with delays amounting to nearly 5 to 7 years and still no signs of completion.The developer don't even agree to give compensation for the delays caused.

It's high time Mr. Navin Raheja is removed from this position immediately and should be made to face the law of the land.
