Crownhill is a Busy Residential and Commercial Area of Plymouth used by a large amount of people on a daily basis whether on foot or via the traffic system that takes you through the Village centre. Used by passers by and local residents alike Crownhill offers everything you need with a vast range of shops, schools, banks, a pub and post office and also a very busy transport interchange with buses and regular traffic featuring largely. In recent years Crime, Drugs and Anti social behaviour within the area have been a massive problem much of it not to the knowledge of local residents and shop owners. Those who have been affected like myself will know that it leaves a very unpleasant taste and can knock you not only financially but personally too including causing health issues.  In recent months Car Crime and Crime towards Commercial properties has been incredibly high also the dealing of drugs within the car park and side street areas has also been noticed on many occasions. 

The Police have Continued to work hard with the limited resources they have but I find it INCREDIBLE that an area this busy and targeted as much as it is DOES NOT have A CCTV SYSTEM in Operation. For Local Residents and Businesses alike it would be a much needed reassurance and potentially a great help in reducing Crime and Traffic offences in the area. People work hard to make a living to maintain a business or a home why should anyone have to put up with Antisocial activities within the area where they live and work. We should feel safe not vulnerable and should be assisted by local Councils not ignored. It's about time Crownhill is recognised and assisted with its security with the installation of Cameras not only for the Dementia Friendly Approach but also to fight against crime.
