Hi friends! So, look. We didn't succeed with this campaign. The Life of a Showgirl sold 4 million copies and broke just about every conceivable record in its first week. Taylor has maintained her silence on the genocide in Gaza. Every news outlet on Earth continues to refer to a "ceasefire" in Gaza as if we don't all know that Israel will be allowed to violate said ceasefire any time they please, as they have already done upwards of 80 times.

In such heartbreaking times, it's hard not to feel demoralized. But I genuinely take comfort in the fact that over 400 people signed this petition. Boycotting can feel like a small thing, and it is, especially in comparison with the sacrifices that our friends in Palestine are forced to make every day, but I cling to the fact that you were willing to do something in a world that continually encourages you to ignore the suffering of others.

With that in mind, can I ask you to do one more small thing? Can we all commit to not watching The End of an Era and The Eras Tour: The Final Show when they premiere on Disney+ in December? As you may be aware, Disney+ is a priority BDS target. Actors Shira Haas and Gal Gadot have been given enormous platforms to disseminate Israeli propaganda, and Marvel has chosen to glorify the Israeli spy agency Mossad with their adaptation of the Ruth Bat-Seraph character. When Disney tried to silence Jimmy Kimmel, millions of people canceled their Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions. All I'm asking is for us to keep that same energy for Palestinians who are still suffering and dying, and not be complicit in their ongoing dehumanization by the film industry.

Taylor could have chosen any streaming service to debut her new projects. The fact that she chose Disney+, when it seems implausible that she would not have heard about the boycott... well, let's just say I've never heard silence quite this loud.

In solidarity and hope,

Ivy
