PLEDGE: NO VOTES FOR GENOCIDE JOE

PLEDGE: NO VOTES FOR GENOCIDE JOE
The Issue
AMERICAN VOTERS: SIGN THIS PLEDGE IF YOU REFUSE TO VOTE TO RE-ELECT JOE BIDEN IN THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION BECAUSE OF HIS SUPPORT FOR THE GENOCIDE OF PALESTINE COMMITTED BY ISRAEL.
The past 40 days have been enveloped in anguish and darkness, as the state of Israel relentlessly carries out a genocidal campaign of terror and bombing that has stolen the lives of 12,000+ and counting Palestinian people. [Edit: This petition was published on 11/18/23. As of 1/24/24, the devastating death toll has reached 25,000 including over 10,000 children.]
The world watches on in horror, but millions of us are not standing still–people from all walks of life have taken to the streets, the docks, bridges, college campuses, and the U.S. Capitol to voice our protest to the genocide and assert our solidarity with the Palestinian people.
As Americans we are disgusted by the fact our hard-earned taxed dollars–which could be used for public resources that actually benefit lives, rather than gruesomely taking them–are going towards funding Israel’s violent ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. Palestinians have been squeezed into the open air prison of Gaza as well as the West Bank, and have had their human rights and liberties oppressed for decades under the apartheid system enforced by Israel.
While condemnation and calls for a ceasefire from many different communities grow louder and stronger by moment, and many nations have withdrawn their ambassadors to Israel and are preparing to finally recognize the legitimacy of the State of Palestine, Joe Biden’s administration doubles down on their unapologetic support of Israel. What the Biden administration is doing makes our country and its supposed values of upholding freedom and championing multicultural democracy look like the world’s sickest joke.
We are exactly one year out from the next presidential election: yet another cycle where the Democratic Party uses threat of re-election of the fascist monster that is Biden's opponent to coerce our compliance, and tries to distract us from the fact that that Biden himself openly supports genocide (as well as many other policies that are barely distinguishable from the extremist Republican agenda, especially when it comes to foreign policy and immigration). Go with the “Lesser of two evils” once again? No thank you. Openly enabling genocide is our last straw. Enough is enough.
As our government and politicians on both sides of the spectrum completely let us down, the people are giving each other hope. We understand everything that is on the line in the 2024 election, we are willing to take risks that match the gravity of this uncertain and deeply charged time for our country and the world it arrogantly holds so much influence over. We have the power to resist the wrongs our government is responsible for, and that includes using the power of our vote. As people who had planned to vote for President Biden’s re-election, we now say loudly and firmly: you have lost our vote.
Our rejection of Biden now does not mean we will withdraw our participation as the election unfolds. This pledge is a promise of action.
As the situation evolves–hopefully in a radically more just direction–we will ultimately choose to:
a) not vote in the presidential election
b) vote for a values-aligned third-party candidate
c) follow another plausible option that arises or is created by us over the next year.
(This pledge is not an endorsement of any specific third-party candidate who may be already running in the presidential race).
Two of the common negative and dismissive reactions we have received when we say we cannot vote for Biden any longer are:
“If you don’t vote for Biden, Trump is going to win, and it will be your fault! Don’t be naive and sabotage the election!”
Biden is not going to win because of his own decisions, and the inhuman policies and disgraceful rhetoric of his administration. The American people who fundamentally believe in human rights and are horrified by the actions his administration has taken will not accept the blame for Biden’s complicity and heartless support for the genocide of Palestinians. He is the one dooming his own re-election, not us.
“This is pointless. The Biden administration is going to do what it wants anyways.”
Our bold declaration of withholding of our votes has shown itself to be a highly effective tactic to influence the Biden administration–they are already panicked about his dwindling re-election prospects. His approval ratings have absolutely plummeted. Let’s keep pushing and make him remember who he is supposed to work for. Not weapons manufacturers who are greedily excited for more war, not the Zionist lobbies who harm Jewish people by conflating anti-Zionism with antisemitism, and not for the Israeli apartheid government! If this democratic system means anything anymore, it means that We the People retain the power, and that our elected officials work for us.
Sometimes we reach the point where in order to change the system, we need to defy the standard operation of things and break the system. It has been drilled into us our entire lives that the United States was founded in the spirit of revolution against tyranny. We must rise to the occasion through a multitude of tactics, including this firm and powerful mode of protest. Sign on with us and pledge to withhold your vote from Biden.
We must wield against these institutions our collective power, a weapon of life and tool of transformation that is far sharper than any of their armories of death-making! None of us will be free until all of us are free–including a Free Palestine, from the river to the sea!
To the Palestinian people: know that you are seen, loved, listened to, and supported by your kin and comrades in America. We will not be still and silent while a ruthless ethnic cleansing is carried out to completely erase you from your homeland. Each of you deserves freedom, care, and self-determination for how you live your own lives. We believe that the days after war and oppression will come, and we will reach that future together as allies in the generational, international struggle against imperialism, militarism, settler colonialism, white supremacy, capitalism, authoritarianism, christofascism, and all evils of vicious state violence.
We will remember in November.
Add a comment sharing why you are signing this pledge, why you are no longer planning to vote for Joe Biden’s re-election, and why you are part of the movement to Free Palestine!
Share this pledge with all individuals and communities who you know to be in support of a Free Palestine. We need to firmly and clearly let Biden and his team know that we are 100% serious.
