PLEASE TEMPORARILY STOP ALL TRAVEL TO HAWAII AND SLOW THE SPREAD OF COVID-19!!
The Issue
DUE TO MANY OF THESE INFECTIONS BEING "TRAVEL RELATED" WE NEED TO TEMPORARY STOP ALL TRAVEL AND HALT ALL AIRLINES AND ALL CRUISE SHIPS FROM ENTERING OUR STATE IMMEDIATELY!!
Hawai'i is located in the middle of the pacific ocean, we should start looking at how we could use that to our advantage. If we keep our population numbers at Hawai'i residents only, we could potentially STOP the spread of COVID-19. And because the only way to get here is either through Cruise Ships and Airplanes, a temporary halt to ALL TRAVEL for non-residents into our islands will WORK to slow the spread! A 14-day quarantine should only be for Hawai'i residents coming home. All non resident tourist should be STOPPED before they even depart their location not enticing them with cheap airfares!!
Although the visitor numbers are significantly lower than last year, tourism still continue to add more people to the Hawai'i community (http://dbedt.hawaii.gov/visitor/daily-passenger-counts/). Common sense teaches us we can't practice social distancing if the Hawai'i population keeps growing, all we are doing is giving COVID-19 more bodies to infect.
An immediate stop to ALL TRAVEL needs to be implemented NOW or unfortunately it will be too late i.e. hospitals over crowding, not enough PPE (personal protective equipment) or hundreds more of the Hawai'i population infected or even dying from this virus.
On March 31st Mayor Kirk Caldwell drafted a letter to the President to push for a halt of all non-essential travel to the islands. However Governor Ige refuses to send the letter to President Trump. PLEASE KEEP SHARING THIS PETITION TO LET GOV. IGE KNOW THAT THIS TEMPORARY STOP TO ALL TRAVEL NEEDS TO BE IMPLEMENTED IMMEDIATELY!
