Many of our district schools have safety and security issues that have been previously identified in the school district's 10 Year Long Range Plan. These needs have gone un-addressed for years.

The focus of this petition involves Borah, Bryan, Dalton, Fernan, Hayden Center, Hayden Meadows, Skyway, Sorenson, Winton, Canfield, Woodland,  Coeur d'Alene High School and Lake City High School. Some schools need HVAC to improve air quality. Some schools need to improve their facility layout in order to monitor who is entering and exiting the building. Some of our schools need to be able to address parking lot remediation for our parents and students. Some schools need to add hallways in classroom wings where hallways currently do not exist. Some schools need to improve their electrical systems because current electrical needs are not being met. Schools with portables need a way to communicate with the school office in the event of a problem.  Some schools need to have modernized fire alarm systems.  Please seek to remediate the glaring issues that need to be addressed for our students.

As parents and patrons, we respectfully ask the school district to consider a levy measure to be posed to voters in 2012 that begins to address these longstanding needs.
