MALCOLM SARGENT HOUSE TO CLOSE

The Committee met with CEO of CLIC Sargent on Wednesday where we were advised after the period of consultation the decision is to close Malcolm Sargent House and the holiday service they provide in Scotland. This news is very disappointing but expected and our thoughts are with the staff who have lost their jobs. In light of this our campaign has now changed from "Save Malcolm Sargent House" to "BUY MSH". Our aim is to buy back the land, return it to the community (who originally fund raised back in 1989 to purchase the land!). We are in the process of setting up a Board and Charity status with the kind assistance of local solicitors, The McKinstry Company. We are quite advanced with this already. We will be fundraising through an online fundraising page (details to follow) until the charity has been formalised then we will be setting up a Community Share Fund. All money raised will go to a deposit of securing the land, buying the house and getting the holiday services for children and young people with cancer and other life altering diseases back up and running ASAP. We are presently in negotiations with the CEO of CLIC Sargent and their Financial Director. We thank everybody for their ongoing support and messages.
