Dear Supporters,
Huge progress has been made by the Committee in the past week in our endeavours to buy the current Malcolm Sargent House in Prestwick from CLIC Sargent since they have intimated their intention to sell the house and the land.
The McKinstry Company Solicitors are in the process of registering our new Charity. This will take time. Our new Charity will be called "Prestwick Holiday Dream Foundation (MSH)". We have been advised that we will not be allowed to use the name Malcolm Sargent House. The actual house will be named at a later date.
We have approached and confirmed 9 excellent (unpaid) Board of Trustees to sit on the Board of our new Charity. We are very excited about the high calibre of people coming on board to drive our project forward to build a long term, sustainable holiday home for children and young people with cancer and other life altering diseases. The house will provide this to families throughout the UK.
We are not in a position to name all the Trustees at present due to confidentiality and press agreements but we can mention that Nigel Martin MBE. Nigel is a highly regarded Solicitor in Ayr. Nigel was involved with the initial purchase back in 1989 and has organised many high profile events for Malcolm Sargent House, attracting the likes of Sean Connery. Nigel has also sat on the Ayrshire Hospice Board for many years and brings a wealth of experience to the team.
CLIC Sargent are now in the process of getting the land valued and we will be meeting them later this month.
Our most urgent aim at present is to fundraise the initial deposit to secure the land and ensure CLIC Sargent do not sell the land to a property developer.
We really need your help.
We have 10,610 petitioners who support our cause and we would appreciate any donations as little or big as you can afford.
We also ask for you to share our cause on social media to raise awareness of our Appeal which will benefit families throughout the UK.
Having a child diagnosed with cancer or a life altering disease is every parent's worst nightmare. We are passionate in our endeavours to ensure that this unique specialised holiday home continues to provide the much needed breaks to these families, who really need it the most.
