Please stop naming in game currency "CP"

The Issue

Hello fellow gamers and (hopefully) game developers,

We, the gaming community, must come together to address a recurring trend that has been observed in multiple games, including popular titles like Call of Duty and Forza. The naming of in-game currency as 'CP' has become increasingly prevalent, and we believe it's time to reconsider this choice. For obvious reasons...

While 'CP' might be an abbreviation for 'Car Points' or 'Call of Duty Points' (this doesn't make any sense) in the gaming context, it also has a deeply disturbing connotation in the real world, being associated with child pornography.

Many of us gamers just want to enjoy our favorite pastime, discuss strategies, trade items, and share experiences with our friends. However, the use of 'CP' as in-game currency makes these conversations uncomfortable and potentially misleading. Imagine discussing how to earn more 'CP' in a public setting or online forum without context. Imagine asking your mom for her credit card so you can buy more 'CP'. It's not only awkward but can lead to serious misunderstandings, trust me.

It's time for the gaming industry to recognize this oversight and make a change. We understand that game developers might not have made this choice with ill intent, but continuing to use 'CP' as a standard term for in-game currency is kind of sus ngl.

We, the undersigned, urge game developers and publishers to please for the love of God come up with literally any other name. Call them Gun Points, or Gamer Points, or something idk man fuck.

Thank you for your understanding and action.

By signing this petition, you're joining a community of gamers who believe in creating a positive and inclusive environment for all. Let's make our voices heard and encourage the industry to be more thoughtful in its choices.
