Hi Neighbors, 

Recap on what happened at the meeting when I presented this online petition to city council last week. I continued to spread the word with residents at the meeting and some told me they had seen the petition online, while others said they never heard of this pilot paid metered program.

You can watch the entire council meeting video found in the update before this one or you can watch my brief minute clip here. I presented 2 parking issues and this petition was combined with it.

After the meeting ended, I had a few words with some from the panel. One thing that concerned me was being told that there was really nothing to oppose for something not happening yet. Please verify the sources I have linked throughout the petition and in the updates as well. All info is in the city of Hawthorne website, you just need to dig.

I met the president of chamber of commerce, at the meeting, who said she did not know about this plan either and was very much opposed to metered parking. 

Today, a resident told me that they called the city asking about this meter parking issue but was told they did not know anything about it.  

I hope that the city does hear your opposition to metered parking through this petition and that it continues to be spread for transparency sakes as ALL residents should have a say on what goes on in the city WE LIVE IN, shop in, park in, work in, etc. Please keep SHARING the petition to Hawthorne residents, neighbors, school parents, etc. before their Tuesday, September 23, 2025 deadline mentioned in a past update. 

I will continue to work on and present this petition to city council in future meetings until we have a resolution. I will keep you posted.
