UPDATE FEBRUARY 15, 2024:
TODAY THE THEME IS LIGHT.
Did you ever have a LIGHT BULB MOMENT? I did, and as a result you see the usage of idioms, phrases and metaphors in my daily Facebook posts.
Dr. Richard O’Reilly and Dr. John Gray, CTO experts SHED A LIGHT on the proposed P.E.I. Community Treatment Order and identified that it was so restrictive that few Islanders would qualify. Their document was titled Evolution and Comparisons. This document was ignored by the PC Party.
The PC Party has been LIGHT ON DETAILS regarding why they chose the restrictive CTO over the flexible New Brunswick CTO model. As a GUIDING LIGHT, I have been endeavouring TO LIGHT A SPARK, motivating the PC Party to amend the CTO in the 2024 spring session.
It is my hope that the PC Party WILL SEE THE LIGHT and understand that most mentally ill persons must stay on their medications to remain well in the community. Under the CTO a psychiatrist signs the order for six months to ensure the mentally ill receive their meds. Lives are in danger without a CTO.
I believe that our PLEASE SIGN ANDREW’S COMMUNITY TREATMENT ORDER AMENDMENT PETITION will be a RAY OF LIGHT convincing the PC Party to do the right thing. There are presently 1935 signatures with the goal of 2000 by February 27, 2024.
Please LIGHTEN THE LOAD of families caring for their loved ones with a mental illness. This is a challenging situation; however, I see LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL!
A community treatment order ensures that a mentally ill person stays on their medication and provides them with a healthy life in the community. P.E.I. now has a CTO, but it is so restrictive that Andrew and many others will not qualify.
I received this post from Cheryl Wertman. "I’m a retired nurse who used to work downtown TO with street involved folks. I’ve seen many Andrew’s and feel CTOs should be much more readily accessible when persons are unable to care for themselves and are at risk of imminent health and danger."

The present CTO is like giving a battery operated truck to a child without the battery. And saying, "The truck is good enough for now, I will give you the battery to operate it after "24" months." The P.E.I. CTO is as useless as this!
In my opinion, I do not believe that the PC Party Ministers and MLAs realized the negative impact the restrictive CTO would have on Islanders, like Andrew and others. I believe in my heart they will amend the CTO in the 2024 Spring Session, because it is the RIGHT THING TO DO!
