UPDATE FEBRUARY 4, 2024:
TODAY THE THEME IS LIFE.
Our son is presently in hospital and hopefully will achieve a NEW LEASE ON LIFE. This will depend on whether the PC Party amends the Community Treatment Order in the 2024 spring session.
It seems they THREW ALL CAUTION TO THE WIND by legislating the restrictive CTO. The PC Party definitely were not thinking about the possible negative consequences DOWN THE ROAD.
In all fairness to the Ministers and MLAs, I don’t believe they fully understood the implications of not qualifying for a CTO. Our family has seen and experienced what can happen when medications are not taken. Our son ended up homeless on the dangerous streets of Toronto.
We are continuing to RIDE OUT THE STORM. We worry that our son will cease medications upon discharge from hospital, due to the symptom of his mental illness known as anosognosia.
I could not believe that the PC Party chose to ROLL THE DICE and take a chance that their restrictive CTO would not harm someone.
The PC Party is literally RISKING LIFE AND LIMB, as our son and many others may be put in physical danger, as they do not qualify for the P.E.I. CTO.
AGAINST ALL THE ODDS, I am CROSSING MY FINGERS hoping and praying the CTO amendment will be legislated in the 2024 spring session.
A community treatment order ensures that a mentally ill person stays on their medication and provides them with a healthy life in the community. P.E.I. now has a CTO but it is so restrictive that Andrew and many others do not qualify.

The present CTO is like giving a battery operated truck to a child without the battery. And saying, "The truck is good enough for now, I will give you the battery to operate it after "24" months." The P.E.I. CTO is as useless as this!
In my opinion, I do not believe that the PC Party Ministers and MLAs realized the negative impact the restrictive CTO would have on Islanders, like Andrew and others. I believe in my heart they will amend the CTO in the 2024 Spring Session, because it is the RIGHT THING TO DO!
DO YOU THINK THE PC PARTY WILL DO THE RIGHT THING?
