Shared from Pet Rescue Report: This Publication reports..... "Animal advocates tried their best to save the life of a nine-month-old puppy in Davidson County, North Carolina this week after she was attacked by three dogs while tethered outside of her home and unable to escape." According to this National Publication, this dog was attacked while tethered in Davidson County, NC, and died as a result of her injuries. Tethering is still legal in Davidson County, NC even though so many citizens have been begging for an ordinance, showing up at meeting after meeting, wearing T-shirts, bringing news cameras, and having been covered in the local newspaper. To no avail. The Shelter in Davidson County, NC, once one of the highest kill shelters around, has been totally reformed, and has hired many new positions to help. The Shelter is making a difference, and less animals will be killed. There is hope. Now if only something could be done about the thousands of chained dogs across the county, suffering around the clock. Write to the Davidson County, NC Commissioners & beg for change, and write to your City/Local Leaders to ask for a better life for dogs, currently chained to trees and other objects, unable to escape heat, predators, storms, and basically just "un-loved." The Commissioners have stated there are other problems needing attention such as teen drug overdoses, child abuse & elderly abuse, and that this simply was NOT important. However, while those all do indeed need reform & certainly utmost attention, it should be no reason to not ALSO tackle the problem of animal abuse, since the people who mistreat animals are also the most likely to commit crimes against people. One of the most commonly asked questions on every psychological exam: "Do you like to hurt animals?" It seems a great leader, one destined for re-election, is one who shows sympathy and empathy for all causes & issues, shows concern for all problems, and doesn't just minimize suffering of animals-which in turns causes the people who care...... a LOT of suffering! It seems a great leader, one destined for re-election, could show compassion for man's best friend, and not look the other way when passing a dog melting or freezing on the end of a chain. A great leader won't ask the people who follow them & vote for them, to look the other way regarding ANY abuse. Not abuse of a child, an elderly person, anyone, or simply a little dog. Join me in my crusade to stamp out the ignorance of the world regarding this issue, which some say isn't as important as cancer, not important as other crimes. My Daddy died of cancer. He loved his doggie. People who suffer from cancer find great healing in their pets. I hate bullies. We march around hash tagging to stop bullying. Well I'm sorry. If you chain your dog, you are a BULLY. If you are a leader with power to make change, and you look the other way, and if you tell people, "Hey folks, dogs aren't important, just look the other way," then YOU are a BULLY. #UNCHAINDOGS Peace, love & doggy kisses, Nite to all Donna http://www.co.davidson.nc.us/commissioners/
