Support Cloverleaf Class of 2020! Seniors will #WaitToWalk VS cancelation!
The Issue
As a result of COVID-19, thousands of seniors will be missing out on important special events, such as prom and graduation. The 2020 seniors of Cloverleaf High School have worked hard for 12 years. They have watched their friends and family members walk across the stage, and this year should be their turn.
They deserve to have their name called in person and throw their caps into the air, like so many students before them. They deserve their closure and final goodbyes before starting one of the most exciting chapters in their lives!
The Ohio Department of Education has recommended virtual ceremonies only. Because they may have to reschedule more than once and some students may not be able to make it at a later date.
But, I believe the majority of students would still participate in a ceremony at a later date! Reschedule as long as necessary, it hurts no one. The "why bother" approach recommendation by the ODE is unfair and unwarranted. #TheyllGladlyWait Please don't take their recommendation!
Possible options would be:
-Limit the number of guests to 4 people or immediate household family members only.
-Spread out the student's chairs.
-Wear masks/gloves.
-Hold the ceremony outdoors.
Many schools throughout Ohio HAVE rescheduled their graduation ceremony, to give their students that opportunity. School districts such as Westerville, Kent Roosevelt, Chardon, Westlake City, Archbishop Hoban, Willoughby Eastlake, and Perry Local are showing their students how much they care!
Work with the Seniors! They want to say their goodbyes to the staff just as much as their friends! We want Cloverleaf High School to know that they have the community's support in continuing to work with the senior class of 2020!
Please sign this petition in order to give the seniors of Cloverleaf a chance for one last goodbye! Let them have their experience, no matter the wait time! It's about the experience!
There's no reason to shut it down permanently. The seniors have handled this with absolute grace and maturity. Let's make this happen for them, please!
