The Issue

The Mint has lost its artistic creation of circulating coinage and this is controlled by Congress through statutory law.  Only in special cases, such as commemorative dates like the 1776-2026 coins this year that get a special law for that year.

We want the Congress to alter the statutes to allow the Mint more flexibility -- not to make political coins, but rather to allow the artistry that was so evident in past coinage, such as the Buffalo Nickel, Mercury dime, Standing Liberty quarter, and Walking Liberty half dollar.

Both collectors and those who use coins in commerce want this change.

Please consider this, for example keeping the great 2026 Emerging Liberty dime instead of reverting to FDR, who was great but we are so tired of that coin since 1946.

Thank you!
