This is about a rushed potential project that was presented the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, is “90% design complete” which the public had not seen yet, had a presentation plus Q&A on December 19 and is seemingly fast tracked was PASSED UNANIMOUSLY by City Council January 7 2025 with destruction to start in February 2025. Update: Now destruction might begin in March 2025. 

What kind of shenanigans are involved? That will certainly be known at some point in the future. 

🚨 PLEASE ASK CITY OF VIRGINIA BEACH TO PURCHASE TIDAL WETLANDS CREDITS IMMEDIATELY INSTEAD OF DESTROYING PHP.

Considering the new information learned this week:

1. there are tidal wetland bank credits available
2. over 5,200 trees are estimated to be destroyed
3. 60,000 cubic yards (about 6,000 dump trucks) of fill to be removed, unsure if that includes tree canopy destruction "waste"

Purchasing the tidal wetland mitigation credits immediately will allow a better opportunity to solicit more thoughtful science and engineering to evaluate the environmental concerns vs. the need to jam this project through at the last moment especially considering the location & national exposure this project will receive.
