In January 1998, the two-part series finale of "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" aired on the Fox Kids network.  Part one was titled "I Really, Really Hate Clones" and part two was titled "Farewell, Spider-Man".  While the series is notable for introducing the concept of the Spider-Verse in a "Spider-Man" television series, the series finale is also known for having Spider-Man meet his real life co-creator, comic book writer Stanley Lieber, a.k.a. Stan "The Man" Lee.  The final minutes of the series has Spider-Man meeting Stan Lee at his office at Marvel Comics, taking Stan web-swinging over the streets of New York, and having a brief heart-to-heart talk on a rooftop before Madame Web appears to pick up Spider-Man and take him back to search for the real Mary Jane Watson.

In 2023, Hasbro released a few boxed sets based on "Spider-Man: The Animated Series", with the boxes based on VHS tape covers, and paired two characters from the series together.  Unfortunately, a two-pack was not made for Stan Lee and Spider-Man based on the series finale.

Since 2028 will be the 30th anniversary of the series finale of "Spider-Man: The Animated Series", we, the fans, would like to see a two-pack made of Spider-Man on a new body mold with more articulation, with multiple hands for both hands in different poses (such as wall-crawling, web-shooting, and fist poses), a new head sculpt, and an alternate civilian head of Peter Parker and of Stan Lee, with two different head sculpts and alternate hands, for the "Marvel Legends" toyline.  If possible, fans also hope that the two figures for Spider-Man and Stan Lee will not have cel-shading on them, as a majority of fans did not like the cel-shading on the previous figures.
