In 1993, Marvel Comics published the 14-part storyline "Maximum Carnage" in all of their Spider-Man comic books.  The storyline featured the return of Cletus Kasady/Carnage, introduced the villainess Shriek, and had Spider-Man, Venom and the Black Cat team up with various Marvel Comics heroes to defeat Carnage and his forces.  Spider-Man and Venom would be joined by Cloak and Dagger, the Black Cat, Morbius the Living Vampire, Deathlok, Firestar, Captain America, Iron Fist and Nightwatch to try to stop Carnage, Shriek, Demogoblin, Doppleganger and Carrion from terrorizing New York.

Although the story itself was met with mixed reviews and many feeling the story ran on too long, the "Maximum Carnage" storyline was popular enough that, in 1994, toy company Toy Biz created a "Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage" toyline of figures for Spider-Man, Venom and Carnage and a "Maximum Carnage" two-player video game was released on the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo home video game consoles where fans could select Spider-Man and/or Venom to play.

We, the fans, would like to see Hasbro make a "Maximum Carnage" toyline for their "Marvel Legends: Retro Spider-Man" toyline with the old Toy Biz box art and to make new figures for Spider-Man, Venom, Carnage, Shriek, the Black Cat and Carrion.  A second wave could be made that includes figures for Firestar, Cloak, Dagger, Doppelganger, Demogoblin and Nightwatch.  Fans have been asking for new figures for characters such as Carrion and Firestar and make new figures on new improved body molds for characters such as Demogoblin, and we, the fans, think that "Maximum Carnage" would be a great way to include those characters in the "Marvel Legends" toyline.
