Help Save Moapa- Indian preserve

The Issue

Nellis Air Force Base wants to expand the Nevada Test and Training Site amid push-back from a local Native American tribe, the Moapa Band of Paiutes. It’s the premier range for weapons testing in the country but the land sought by Nellis holds cultural significance for the tribe.

They have been trying to protect their land, the animals, and the well being of the last of the tribe. Nellis air Force Base main concern is testing better faster weapons and aircraft to compete with China. Stating they need a larger amount of space to do this. Moapa's residents are focused on protecting the land and what is left of the wildlife and doesn't think nellis air Force Base can do that.

The 229,000 acres sought in the expansion are owned by the Bureau of Land Management.

Nellis is asking Congress to approve a transfer of the land from one federal agency to another.forcing these people out of their homes. It's called a land withdrawal. If everyone spoke up, expressed how this is wrong, we may be able to help these people fight and it does feel nice to make a difference. There's not too many more beautiful areas left in Nevada to fight for.

Moapa offers tours, beautiful sights, wild extinct bighorn sheep, and horseback riding to Travelers. If you have ever visited this area and would like to make a difference please help sign this petition.
