My name is Kristel and my husband is Johan. We came to Canada six years ago, looking for a new and safe beginning for our family. We started from nothing, working long hours, learning English, and adapting to a new way of life. Canada became our home, a place where we could build a safe live for our children, Thomas and Valentin.Now, because of immigration regulations, we are facing the possibility of being sent back to a place where our safety is at risk, where we have the risk of being killed or kidnapped while walking the streets or anywhere we go. They would sent us to a place where our kids will have to chose between going to school or their lives. We left Colombia without anything just our son Thomas and the need to save him.We have built a life here, worked tirelessly to contribute to our community, and created a home filled with love and hope.  

Our son Thomas came here at an early age, and this is the only home he’s ever really known. He’s fluent in English and French,he excels in school, and is active in his community. He plays soccer at London FC Academy, is part of a water polo team, goes to Kumon for extra learning, and always puts his whole heart into everything he does. We are so proud of the generous, kind young man he’s growing up to be.

In our time here, we were blessed with another son, Valentin, who was born in Canada and is now four years old. Valentin is full of life and laughter, the type of child who brings joy to everyone he meets. He loves talking to people, making friends, and participating in everything around him. This is the only life he’s ever known, and we can’t imagine taking him away from it.
