Please Help Small Businesses

The Issue

Today, two very nice police officers stopped by the store to kindly ask that we move our "open" sign.  Recently our city government voted to strictly enforce a dated codes policy that does not allow anything on the sidewalks DESPITE ADA codes being met.  This includes any signage, potted plants, tables and chairs, sales tables and more. This "rule" and its enforcement cripples the businesses on the square, as it allows no curb appeal, announcements, or decor to help entice customers to come inside.  Small businesses on the square should be supported, celebrated, and set up for success FIRST and FOREMOST by the city itself.  Because we are not being supported we NEED YOU and your voice to please help us!

PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE MY PETITION asking the City of Springfield to take the lead from other small town historic squares who have been awarded “Main Street” recognition and allow the small businesses in Springfield to have plants, tables, chairs, signs, and anything that add to curb appeal on the sidewalk, given ADA access is being met, per National and State code requirements!   Thank you for your support!
