Petition update#SaveShanganaghParkDon't let this be our #DontLookUp moment
Save Shanganagh ParkDublin, Ireland
Jan 31, 2022

D-Day - we made it this far and there are only a few short hours ahead before the submission window closes at 5pm.

It's not a meteor - it's the Shanganagh Park Masterplan! And if a real meteor comes, the roads in and out of Shankill will be too blocked to evacuate...

So please give less than 3 minutes of your time to help stop the destruction by signing, submitting and sharing your views on the proposed Phase One development by 5pm today - 01 Feb 2022 - via:
1. https://dlrcoco.citizenspace.com/parks/pc-pks-03-2021-proposed-development-at-shanganagh/consultation/intro/
2. And then please sign and share the petition at www.change.org/SaveShanganaghPark

Sincere thanks to the 850+ of you that cared enough to not let this be another one of those occasions that we left it too late to do something.

From posting on Facebook to posting leaflets, creating videos and encouraging kids to write their own submission and learning about what we hope remains a democratic and transparent process and not a process served by self-interest.

Until the first sod is turned, there's always a chance, and with feedback coming in from the various sports clubs that members are beginning to find their voice and turning away from earlier mantras of "facilities at any cost", the message is getting through - there is a very real cost and it's a cost the community of park users from Shankill and beyond is not prepared to pay - nor should it - the wants of a few do not outweigh the needs of the many!

If we ignore the threat, we lose the amenity - simple as that - so if you haven't made a submission yet, what are you waiting for?!

Come 5.01pm, we'll pause momentarily, catch our breath for a day or two, then regroup to get clarity on next steps and hatch a plan

Then we'll get ready for Phase Two of this effort to impress upon the Council and all stakeholders that if a minority are making decisions to suit their own agendas and without including those who these decisions will impact the most, then there should be no surprise when getting called out on exactly what their interpretation of "serving the community" means.

We'll keep this site and the updates going on www.facebook.com/SaveShanganaghPark so please continue to support by helping us spread the word and keeping the signature counter ticking over - as the planners digest the submissions, we need to get to work on the Councillors and ask some tough questions - their responses and actions will determine the level of voter support come the next election day.

Sincere appreciation for the support, not just from everyone behind #SaveShanganaghPark, but for all those who are still unaware that this challenge is on our hands.

Don't look up - those floodlights will be blinding...
