Please help my son in getting his conviction overturned
The Issue
I am reaching out to you today not just as a mother, but as someone who seeks justice for my son, who was wrongfully convicted only for standing up for a friend. My son was18 years old at the time, fresh out of high school, when he found himself in a situation that spiraled out of control. A situation where he intended a fistfight but ended up sentenced to a maximum-term imprisonment.
In this unfortunate encounter, my son stood against a 22-year-old man. Initially, it was supposed to be a fistfight on agreed terms. However, the young man came prepared for more than just a fistfight, carrying a firearm in his waistband. My son also had a gun, but it was not in his possession at that time; it was against a car on a hill. Amid the altercation, my son punched the man, leading to a fight up the street. Tragically, the man drew his gun and shot my son. In the chaos that ensued, my son's friend fired his weapon to scare off the attacker, resulting in the unintentional fatality of the young man.
This troubling sequence of events led to my son receiving an unjustly severe penalty—one that does not consider the facts comprehensively or the circumstances that led to this avoidable tragedy.
We need support to advocate for a fair trial that rightly evaluates the events and acknowledges my son's original intentions and the real threat he faced. Wrongful convictions not only impact families but also undermine the integrity of the justice system.
Please join me in appealing to the judicial authorities to reassess my son's case with fairness and understanding. Stand with us to correct this injustice. Help us secure a future where justice functions correctly by signing this petition. Your signature could make a pivotal difference in a now 21-year-old's life. Let's restore both justice and hope.
