Our community of Liberty Hill, North Charleston is more than just a neighborhood. It's a living testament to our shared history and culture, reflected in the classic bungalows that have stood the test of time. However, these historical buildings need protection and preservation to continue telling their stories. We are calling for the implementation of a Historical Zoning Overlay over Liberty Hill.

This overlay will not only protect our architectural heritage but also provide tangible benefits to residents such as tax exemptions and clean-up services. It will ensure that our community maintains its cohesive look while becoming an even better place to live, work, and thrive.

Historic places preserve human stories - those who built them, lived in them or worked in them. They are records of ourselves and our communities (National Trust for Historic Preservation). By implementing this overlay, we can ensure that these stories continue to be told for generations to come.

The Liberty Hill Improvement Council believes strongly in this cause because it means creating a beautifully refreshed area where everyone can enjoy the charm of yesteryear while feeling part of a jointed family neighborhood once more.
