The Issue

Our lives were forever changed on December 6th, 2023, when our beloved son William Brown, aged just seven years old, was tragically killed by a hit-and-run driver. The driver left the scene and did not present himself until after 24 hours, the driver knew that he had hit a child as he got out of his van and looked at William who was dying in the road, he did not offer any assistant of help, he then got back into his van and drove off. Our lives without William will never be the same; his small footsteps made a huge impact in this world and has left an enormous void in our hearts.

The police have been amazing but they must operate within the parameters of the  law. As the law stands if you leave a scene of an accident and you kill someone in your vehicle you will only face a maximum of 6 months in prison if that!

I am petitioning for an amendment of the law. Leaving the scene of an accident that law needs to be altered to an either way law, which simply means if you bump someone and drive off, you could be dealt with by way of a summary or by a Magistrates court, if you kill someone in your vehicle and leave the scene that should be an indictable offence that can only be dealt with by the Crown Court and could have a maximum of life imprisonment.

MAXIMUM 6 MONTHS FOR A LIFE IS NOT MORALLY RIGHT, PLEASE HELP US MAKE A CHANGE.
