Please help: A Judge found our Mom to be Innocent but she might have to go back to prison!!
For 15 years, our loving mother, Nancy Smith, was imprisoned for a crime that she did not commit. When we were only children -- ages 5 -16 -- the police came to our house and took our mother away in handcuffs. We will never forget that terrible memory.
After the trial, even though we were seperated and only able to see our mom in prison a few times a year, we all struggled day in and day out to prove our mom's innocence. Over time, more and more evidence came to light confirming what we had known all along -- our loving, caring, and hardworking mother Nancy -- was suffering in prison for a crime that she did not commit.
The nightmare finally came to an end, three years ago, when a Judge declared our mom innocent of any crime and acquitted her. But, due to a legal technicality, that acquittal was overturned by a court that did not dispute our mom's innocence. Now, she may be taken away from us again and forced to serve a minimum of another fifteen years in prison. In order to save our mom and our family, we have respectfully requested that Ohio Governor Kasich grant our mom clemency.
Please learn about the case and then sign our petition asking that Governor Kasich pardon Nancy Smith. (Please sign even if you don't live in Ohio)

Dear Governor Kasich,
This letter is a plea from a concerned citizen urging you to grant Nancy Smith’s petition for a pardon.
Nancy was declared innocent and acquitted by a Judge in 2009, but the decision acquitting her was overturned by the Ohio Supreme Court on a technicality. The Ohio Supreme Court did not dispute the finding that Nancy was innocent. Rather, the Ohio Supreme Court held only that the trial court lacked jurisdiction under the unique circumstances of Nancy’s case.
Nancy is an innocent woman who has already served 15 years for a crime that she did not commit. I beg that you recognize this injustice and grant an innocent woman her freedom. Indeed, there could be no clearer case for a pardon than one in which the Petitioner has already been found innocent by a court of law but cannot obtain relief because of a technicality.
Nancy is a mother of four who has missed birthdays, graduations, weddings, and numerous other special occasions because she was wrongfully imprisoned. Please do not allow for Nancy to miss any more milestones in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
I hope to see an end to the nightmare that cost Nancy Smith 15 years of her life.
