Intro:

The U.S. Government wants to ban TikTok & have the app get sold to an American company. It’s not fair to the 170 million people who have TikTok & this petition will force ByteDance to sell the app to another company.

 

The History & Actions:

Since 2020, the U.S. Government had plans to ban TikTok because they think TikTok is a national security threat & people’s data is getting sent to the Chinese government. The U.S. Government also thought TikTok was a spyware app as well.

The U.S. Government made the decision to ban TikTok permanently until TikTok is sold to another company. The problem is that ByteDance will never sell their app to an American company, & we need to have ByteDance sell TikTok for them.

On April 24, 2024, Joe Biden signed a bill that bans Chinese ownership of TikTok. The bill mentions that it will either make ByteDance sell TikTok to an American company or ban the whole app altogether. This bill will go into effect on January 19, 2025. If we don’t want TikTok to get banned, we gotta keep pushing ByteDance to sell TikTok to an American company & make them do it. There are two separate versions of TikTok (one of them called Douyin). We can have ByteDance keep Douyin & have them sell TikTok.

On December 6, 2024, the U.S. court upheld the law that will sell or ban TikTok. This was ruled by three judges in the U.S. Court of Appeals. Those judges decided to be defiant, opposed that it violates the 1st Amendment, & that the law is unconstitutional. In fact, it really is unconstitutional & hurts people's freedom of speech. This is very narcissistic towards the 170 million Americans who use TikTok.

A week after December 6, two lawmakers advised the CEO’s of Apple & Google to remove TikTok from their app stores by January 19, 2025. This was sent in the form of a letter to these two companies. It was because of the appeal that was made in court that will sell or ban TikTok. If TikTok remains on the Apple App Store & Google Play after January 19, they would face huge fines that cost billions of dollars. This is a delirious decision towards Apple & Google. TikTok is meant to stay in the app stores for decades, not for like seven years. No wonder why the people need to urge ByteDance to sell TikTok. We can’t just wait for ByteDance to make a decision.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court promised to hear a last-minute challenge from TikTok about why this law shouldn’t go in effect. Arguments from ByteDance & TikTok are set to be heard on January 10, 2025. This makes the Supreme Court think twice about banning TikTok. The court needs to decide if the ban violates the 1st Amendment, which actually does, & that the Supreme Court should understand this by now. Chances are that the Supreme Court might disagree with everything that ByteDance & TikTok will say throughout the argument. The U.S. Government & Supreme Court is very selfish. They can do anything & everything to prevent ByteDance & TikToks CEO from stopping the law.

On January 13, 2025, Senator Ed Markey proposed a bill that would give another 270 days for TikTok. He was mature & decided that he would save Gen Z from freaking out & had to save content creators from losing money. This bill was called “Extend the TikTok Deadline Act”. He said that there will be serious consequences if TikTok gets banned, since he mentioned that people depend on the app for social connections & for their economic livelihood. He even mentioned that TikTok is just like any other social media app, which is one absolute correct answer on why TikTok shouldn’t be banned. However, this crazy weirdo named Tom Cotton blocked it, by saying biased things about TikTok, making the assumption that it is a Chinese spy app, while it ACTUALLY IS NOT. One thing he said is, “Let me be crystal clear: there will be no extensions, no concessions, and no compromises for TikTok.” Like really? How mean is that towards Gen Z? It’s extremely mean to them if you have answered that. He’s saying that TikTok is controlled by Communist China. In fact, not actually. It’s Tom Cotton that’s acting like a Communist leader, & Gen Z is starting to support communism, ever since the TikTok ban has gone out of hand. Tom Cotton is a stinking, rotten, hurtful, & mentally abusive bad man that wants to ruin Gen Z’s brains. If you’re looking forward into voting for a new senator, DO NOT VOTE FOR TOM COTTON, as he is a very ugly & extremely dangerous guy. We definitely need to sign this petition so bad to get TikTok sold, so that Tom Cotton won’t keep on disrespecting TikTok.

On January 17, 2025, the Supreme Court determined that the TikTok ban was constitutional & the law was upheld once again. The argument that it had violated the 1st amendment was insanely rejected by the Supreme Court, since they wanted to be delusional & ban the app anyways. This has verbally assaulted all of 170 million TikTok users' free speech.

After TikTok got removed from app stores, people started selling Apple & Android devices with TikTok preinstalled on eBay. Isn’t that nice to the people who have accidentally deleted TikTok or who never had TikTok yet? These devices are being sold for thousands of dollars, ranging from $1,000 - $50,000. Some of these sellers are asking for huge amounts of money. In fact, some of these devices have a “Best Offer” option, which is a good buy for a person trying to get TikTok after being removed from app stores.

On February 13, 2025, TikTok has officially returned to U.S. app stores. This was due to a letter from Pam Bondi assuring both companies that they won’t pay fines from hosting TikTok on Google Play & the Apple App store. Apple & Google were too scared to break the law, so they let TikTok stay away from their U.S. App Stores until that point. Although, TikToks return to app stores won’t last long, as the ban is coming closer & closer. TikTok will be banned on April 5, 2025 until it is actually sold.

Although, Trump promised to keep TikTok & stop the bill from going into effect, but luckily, he signed an executive order that will keep TikTok running for 75 more days. That’s because the supreme court made it Trump's decision to take action & Trump is currently finding a solution. He gracefully said that he’ll put a 50% joint venture towards an American company & ByteDance. It was announced that Microsoft was in talks with the U.S. Government that they will acquire TikTok & leave ByteDance a minority stake. Although, Microsoft will probably lose the bid, unless all 100 million TikTok users sign this petition & force ByteDance to sell. Don’t get your hopes up, cause the chances of Trump saving TikTok is less than 50%.

 

Debunking The Myth:

Apparently, the U.S. Government & the U.S. Court are tantruming that TikTok is used to send American data to the Chinese government & that TikTok is spyware towards Americans, & those two statements are a HOAX. TikTok is definitely not a spyware app & is actually a trusted social media app by all 170 million Americans. TikTok never sends American users data to the Chinese government & only keeps it private to the company that owns it. TikTok is just like any other social media app. It’s like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, & many other social media apps used in America. In fact, China & its capital Beijing did not do anything to TikTok & its U.S. users. However, ByteDance & TikTok’s CEO still needs to sell TikTok to an American company because the U.S. Government, Court, & House of Representatives need to stop complaining & spreading lies about TikTok. The longer we wait for ByteDance to sell TikTok, the more we see the U.S. Government overreacting towards TikTok, making fantasy statements about TikTok, & trying to find ways to ban TikTok. The truth is that the U.S. is actually banning TikTok for no valid reason.

It’s very psycho that they passed a bill that Joe Biden signed which can ban TikTok really fast unless sold to an American company. It will of course, also make ByteDance follow the bill to prevent TikTok from getting banned. ByteDance selling TikTok to an American company is the ONE & ONLY EVER WAY TIKTOK WON’T GET BANNED. It is recommended that this petition should be signed ASAP since time is running out & we quickly need 100 million U.S. TikTok users to sign this petition. Protests towards the White House & the Supreme Court literally won’t help cause the U.S. will insist on the sell or ban bill & won’t ever listen.

 

The Impact:

The TikTok ban will affect businesses & TikTok stars. Those people heavily rely on TikTok for revenue & their popularity. The ban will result from hundreds of thousands of jobs being lost, since businesses rely on TikTok. Businesses & social media stars who thrive on TikTok will lose a big load of money, in as much as one-billion dollars. Some would have to switch to another social media app to gain revenue & popularity as well. TikTok stars would end up struggling if TikTok gets banned, since it would impact their income for sponsorships/collaborations & would end up losing popularity.

If TikTok ends up being taken off of both Google Play & the Apple App store, there will no longer be any updates. Overtime, it will end up getting laggy & unstable. Due to TikTok not being updated, it will eventually become unusable & the app will no longer be as popular. It was officially taken off of app stores on January 19, 2025. The app has gone dark before midnight on January 18, but 12 hours later, TikTok restored access, since they claimed that Trump was putting efforts to save TikTok. Trump issued a 75-day extension, but however, that extension didn’t even bring TikTok back to app stores. Just nearly a month ago, TikTok officially came back to U.S. app stores. A 75-day extension is not something that will stop the ban. It’s to temporarily make TikTok available for a limited amount of time & the comeback it won’t last forever. This means that TikTok will definitely go dark again on April 5, 2025. It’s better to keep TikTok rather than let it get banned, since a TikTok ban will drastically change the whole entire United States of America. 

Since the TikTok ban was getting closer, many TikTok users have ended up moving to RedNote (a.k.a. Xiaohongshu), which is drastically more Chinese than the actual TikTok app. It’s also mainly used in Mainland China too. Gen Z decided that they would violate the “Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act” to show absolute defiance & to show extreme anger towards the government. This was an amazing action they had to do & they did the right thing. Gen Z had to prove that the U.S. Government was wrong about the TikTok ban & decided that they would love the Chinese Communist Party more now. A lot of Gen Z TikTok users had to learn Chinese, interact with Chinese people, help the Chinese with their English homework, send their cat tax, & label themselves as “TikTok refugees”. The name looks as if people had to escape from a dangerous country, but not actually however. TikTok users called themselves “TikTok Refugees” because they needed to use RedNote (Xiaohongshu) as their perfect alternative. The TikTok ban is basically a terrorist attack towards Gen Z. This made Gen Z want to turn the U.S. into China all because of this TikTok ban. They decided to download this app to show the U.S. Government that the TikTok ban took away their free speech. Although it was a short-lived trend, but, it’ll come back if TikTok gets banned on April 5, 2025. Unless the platform gets sold to an American company.

Conclusion: 

So if ByteDance is refusing to sell TikTok to an American company, we are going to have to push them to sell it. If we don’t do anything, TikTok will just get banned on April 5, 2025. We can’t just wait for ByteDance to make their decision. The reason why they’re refusing to sell is that they want their algorithm protected. They don’t need to sell their algorithm. Not only we should get ByteDance to sell TikTok, but we should also get TikToks CEO to sell it. There will be a 50% joint venture between ByteDance & a U.S. company anyways. This might make ByteDance more willing to sell TikTok. However, ByteDance will keep on refusing to sell TikTok, unless this petition gets 100,000,000 signatures. Count your days TikTok users, the ban is getting closer, & we will run out of time to have this petition signed.

Microsoft isn’t the only company that interested in buying TikTok. Other investors include Mr. Beast, Oracle, & Kevin O’Leary.

I would encourage you to share it with your school, college, job, people outside your school, etc. I also highly recommend you to share this petition on other social media platforms, but however, it’s best to share it on TikTok. I would highly advise you to promote this petition as well since we need way more signatures. Please, I would advise you to not ignore signing it.
