But today, that game barely exists.

Under the greedy and misguided leadership of CEO Josh Yguado, Jam City has gutted everything that made Hogwarts Mystery magical.

Instead of building on the emotional richness of the MC’s journey, the game has shifted toward shallow content, unbearable grind mechanics, and a disturbing obsession with shoehorning in Harry Potter’s storyline—especially through the Beyond arc.

Let us be absolutely clear:

This is not Harry’s story. This is OUR story.
If we wanted to experience Harry’s journey, we would read the books, watch the films, or play LEGO Harry Potter.
We came here to live in the Wizarding World as our own character.
But now? The game has forgotten that completely.

 
🛑 WHAT’S WRONG WITH BEYOND
The Beyond storyline is the clearest symbol of this creative failure:

It’s bloated with constant Harry Potter references—from events to characters, timelines to retcons—none of which serve the MC’s growth or personal narrative.
Instead of giving us original content, Beyond rehashes events from the books with minor twists—reducing our MC to a sidekick in someone else’s legacy.
The overreliance on nostalgia feels lazy, disrespectful, and creatively bankrupt.
Our meaningful connections—Penny, Beatrice, Badeea, Jae, Tonks—are pushed aside for cameos and crossover bait.
We didn’t come to Hogwarts Mystery to be a background character in Harry Potter's shadow. We came to create something new.

We, the players and community of Hogwarts Mystery, demand the immediate removal of Josh Yguado as CEO and a complete narrative and mechanical overhaul of the game before it’s too late.

🔥 1. REMOVE JOSH YGUADO AS CEO
His tenure has led to the game’s creative collapse.
Prioritizing monetization over storytelling, he’s alienated the core fanbase.
We want a leader who respects story, character, and the fans.

📖 2. END BEYOND AND RESTORE THE MC’S ARC
End the game with a fulfilling Year 7 conclusion.
Erase the ROCC and its disruptive storyline completely.
Refocus on original storylines and character arcs exclusive to our MC.
Let our character forge their own future—not replay Harry’s.

Focus on beloved, fan-requested characters:

Penny Haywood & her full family
Beatrice’s recovery and emotional trauma
Jae Kim, Badeea Ali, Tulip Karasu, Ismelda Murk, Corey Hayden, and Tonks
A Khanna Tree Farm quest honoring Rowan’s legacy

Younger Versions of Beatrice Haywood, as well as the Weasley siblings Bill, Charlie, Ron, Ginny, Percy, Fred and George Weasley pre Hogwarts

A Haywood Family Moving to London storyline that explores change, and growth
Give us emotional, high-stakes, heart-driven side quests, not work logs and filler.

🧠 4. STOP THE DESK JOBS AND MUNDANE TASKS
We do not play this game to simulate our real-world adult lives.
Reduce or remove the “work at your desk” narrative arcs immediately.
Hogwarts is about learning magic, battling curses, forming friendships, NOT sending owls and writing reports.

 

💡 5. FIX THE GAMEPLAY LOOP
Remove 8-hour, 5-star mandatory tasks in side quests. Replace with 3-hour or 1-hour alternatives.
Lower energy and tappie costs to make the game playable again.
Let players earn rewards through duels, potion brewing, and hangouts.
Offer compensation for years of burnout:

🌍 6. ADD NEW, FAN-REQUESTED LOCATIONS
We want immersive, magical, emotional new places to explore:

The Burrow
Muggle London
The Ministry of Magic

The Haywood Family Home and London Apartment
The Khanna Tree Farm
And remove irrelevant or disliked places like Barnaby’s Parlour and all elements of ROCC.
